John Kappas

I've featured a lot of different artists in this space, and I have another one that I have become quite fond of lately. His name is John Kappas and he is a budding singer-songwriter who deserves a lot more buzz than he's currently getting.

Kappas has a very mature voice for such a young singer. There's a very dramatic quality to his voice. History Repeats Itself, his EP, is available on iTunes. He has also released a single off the EP, "Come Back to LA," but I would recommend downloading the entire album.

I think what defines an artist is how they are able to make songs into their own. During American Idol Simon Cowell refers to this as not singing "karaoke." This is especially true for Kappas. On his EP he covers Britney Spears' "Gimme More." I own both versions, I think Kappas' is better.

Still, that's not his best track. His best track in my opinion is his original song "Explain Myself." (Live performance on YouTube.) I really like the lyrics, since I can't find them anywhere online, here they are:

Wow, now that I typed out the lyrics, I think I understand why I absolutely adore this song. The lyrics ring so true. Kappas has an attitude and a voice that I hope isn't stifled as he moves along in his career.
